Darrell Oike is a mixed media artist who is based in Vancouver and Tlell, Haida Gwaii. Reassembling the Sacred is an installation of pit-fired clay spheres and mandalas that have been cracked and meticulously re-assembled by sewing and binding. Oikeʼs work is inspired by Hindu and Buddhist sacred geometry and patterns and a vision of healing for the earth and her inhabitants.
Reassembling the Sacred is informed by artist Darrell Oikeʼs worldview. His deep interest in the universalities of human experience has been shaped by his travels to many parts of the world and his studies of different cultures, religions and philosophies as well as by his mixed Japanese and European heritage.
